Flip-Teaching: How ChemCasts Turned My Classroom
Flip-teaching gives students the opportunity to be coached through the most difficult parts of mastering a course’s objectives. By providing the students lectures to watch outside of the classroom (for homework), a flip-teacher can utilize class time for guidance and leadership much more effectively in many courses. In this presentation, we will share with you the successes and challenges of flip-teaching. The model presented here will be a high school first-year Chemistry course, and this can easily be adapted to fit different disciplines and age groups. We will share the technical aspects of producing recorded lectures as well as pedagogical advantages that this form of instruction offers.
